In rail freight transport, a distinction is made between block train transport, combined transport and single freight car transport. Combined transport combines the advantages of the various modes of transport, with the main leg often taking place via rail freight. The transported goods are transferred between the means of transport en route without leaving their loading units. The first and last mile are usually covered by trucks, so that companies without their own sidings and with lower transport volumes can also make use of rail freight transport. Combined transport is therefore an important building block for the decarbonization of transport. In this video, we show exactly how it works.
