Swiss steel shipments to Italy off to a successful start

DB Cargo Switzerland is starting the new year with a major new transport operation: Swiss steel producer Steeltec has put the transport of steel products from Emmenbrücke to Lecco out to tender. Thanks to close cooperation with DB Cargo Full Load Solutions (FLS) and DB Cargo Italia, an optimized and convincing logistics concept was developed that secured the contract. Steeltec, part of the Swiss Steel Group, manufactures steel products in Emmenbrücke that are destined for customers in northern Italy.

Efficient logistics and increased flexibility

The steel products are transported by train via Chiasso to Lecco, where the finely distributed delivery to the end customers takes place. With three round trips per week, DB Cargo Switzerland is strengthening its site in Bellinzona, ensuring higher capacity utilization and flexible shift arrangements.
