Article: German Dangerous Goods Award 2025: Honour for DB Cargo experts
Award for outstanding achievements in dangerous goods management
Award ceremony at the International Dangerous Goods Days
At the International Dangerous Goods Days in Hamburg, our former colleague Ralf Redeker received the German Dangerous Goods Prize 2025, which was awarded by the publishing house "ecomed-Storck" via the magazine "Gefährliche Ladung". State Secretary Hartmut Höppner from the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport presented the award.
Many years of commitment to dangerous goods safety
Mr Redeker worked as a dangerous goods expert at DB Cargo until 30 September 2024 and has since retired. He was involved in national and international committees for the safe transport of dangerous goods for over 24 years. As a representative of the Association of German Transport Companies, he worked on the dangerous goods transport committee of the Dangerous Goods Transport Advisory Board. Internationally, he chaired the expert group of the International Union of Railways.
Important progress for dangerous goods legislation
His work led to important improvements in dangerous goods legislation. These include clear responsibilities for empty, uncleaned tankers containing refrigerated liquefied gases. In addition, the quality assurance system of the IRS 40471-3 leaflet was revised. The European Railway Agency recognised it as an "Acceptable Means of Compliance". These advances strengthen the railway as a safe mode of transport for dangerous goods.
Thanks and recognition for exceptional achievements
We warmly congratulate Mr Redeker. His commitment has not only shaped DB Cargo, but the entire industry.
