16 September 2021 – Deutsche Bahn and the German Train Drivers' Union (GDL) have reached an agreement on collective bargaining. This means that the wage dispute with the GDL has been settled. There is therefore currently no threat of a continuation of the GDL strike.
Even though the strike has ended and no further strike action is expected, we have to inform you about ongoing operational restrictions, especially in the single wagon network of DB Cargo AG. These are mainly caused by disruptions, particularly in the south and south-west of Germany, but are also affecting operations in other parts of Germany and neighbouring countries. We ask for your understanding that the restrictions will probably continue to have an effect on next week's operations. The DB Cargo team is continuing to work at full speed to reduce the restrictions in the network and to restart trains that have come to a standstill.

21 July 2021 – High water levels
Last week’s storms continue to cause severe disruption to DB Cargo's services. The effects of the storms are still being felt particularly in the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate and in cross-border traffic to and from Belgium.
Work is still underway in many areas to survey the extent of the damage. Due to sustained high water levels, conditions remain extremely difficult for determining the severity of damage to infrastructure assets. Despite the best efforts of DB Cargo employees, a reliable estimate of when an acceptable service level will resume is not yet feasible.
9 July 2021– Infrastructure work
In addition to complex infrastructure work which is causing major disruption to cross-border transports between Germany and Poland, flooding at the Munich Nord shunting yard continues to impact DB Cargo's operations.
Storms which took place on 23 June 2021 damaged several electronic infrastructure components at the Munich Nord shunting yard. Repair work is currently underway and shunting for single wagonload transport continues to be disrupted. Block train and combined (container) transport have not been impacted by the disruption. DB Cargo's dense network is proving its worth in this situation. Many transports have been rerouted through neighbouring shunting yards such as those in Nuremberg, Ingolstadt and Mühldorf.
