Article:

Intermodal logistics combines different modes of transport such as rail, road and waterways to transport goods efficiently and sustainably. Combined transport offers numerous advantages, including a reduction in CO2 emissions and optimised use of existing infrastructure.

  • Comprehensive network connections: With an extensive network of connections throughout Europe and our strategically placed terminals, we enable smooth transfers between different modes of transport.
  •  Flexibility and reliability: Our intermodal services are designed to respond flexibly to our customers' requirements and offer customised transport solutions.
  • Focus on sustainability: DB Cargo is committed to environmentally friendly transport solutions. By using rail as our main mode of transport, we can significantly reduce CO2 emissions and thus make an important contribution to climate protection.

Our services in detail

Of course, our service portfolio does not only include pure rail transport. We see ourselves as an intermodal full-service provider - whether for complete train capacities, individual shipments including trucking or intermodal services such as terminal and depot management. Our portfolio also includes the operation of over 15 terminals throughout Europe.

  • Carrier Sales: Our block train solutions - controlled 24/7 from our Control Tower Intermodal. From train routing management to terminal and order management through to wagon scheduling, the entire intermodal freight transport process comes together here.
  • Operator Sales: Our single-position solutions - for Europe-wide and efficient runs in Europe's largest network to Asia and with connections to the seaports, our subsidiaries Transfracht, Kombiverkehr, Optimodal and DB Cargo Eurasia GmbH are the point of contact for our customers' individual shipments.
  • Terminals: This division is responsible for Europe-wide terminal operations and Germany-wide trucking. Depot services and services relating to the loading units, such as container maintenance and cleaning, are also provided here.

This results in impressive figures: over 1,000 freight trains are on the road every week in the Intermodal division - the industry-independent and flexible solutions make it possible.
