We make Europe greener

The railway forms the backbone of Europe's logistics network for people and freight, which means it has a major role to play in the European Green Deal (EGD). For this reason, the EU has made 2021 the European Year of Rail. DB Cargo is part of this long-lasting process of transformation. No less than 60% of our environmentally friendly freight transports in Europe already take the form of cross-border services, and this figure is growing steadily. This growth is essential if we want to become carbon neutral by 2050, as envisaged by the EGD. By joining forces with our peers in the logistics sector, we want to raise awareness of our goal – reducing CO₂ emissions throughout Europe and encouraging those in positions of power to go with green options that will promote a move towards sustainable transportation. We, that is Rail Freight Forward (RFF), an alliance of 23 European rail freight operators committed to dramatically reducing the negative impact of freight transport on the planet and mobility through innovation and a smarter transport mix. We are proud to be part of this great transformation that will make Europe even greener and we are happy to carry this message to the world - see where the green journey is going in the RFF film "This is us"!
